A rich beef flavored sauce with a fresh finish and a hint of chocolate. This sauce is perfect for smoked beef brisket, burnt ends, smoked meatloaf and even char grilled beef tips and was specially created for our Smoky Brisket with Apple Fennel Slaw sandwich.

For the Smoky Mole Sytle Beef BBQ Sauce:

  1. Combine cocoa powder and Lawry's Smoky Chile & Cumin Rub, then dissolve in stock.
  2. Add Cattlemen's Kansas City Classic BBQ Sauce.
  3. Store under refrigeration and heat for service.

CHEF’s TIP!

This sauce is best made with natural pan drippings or reduced braising liquid from cooking brisket or chuck. If this sauce is made to accompany house smoked brisket, place a pan with just a 1/4 inch of water under the brisket. The pan should collect smoky drippings with the sugar, salt and seasonings from the barbecue rub on the meat.  

This recipe yields 10-1/4 cup servings or 2 1/2 cups.
