A sweet and savory caramelized onions married with tomato ketchup.

  1. In a saute pan on medium-low heat, cook bacon until fat has rendered and bacon is crisp. Remove from pan, leaving fat in pan. Reserve bacon.
  2. Add onions to bacon fat and cook until caramelized. Remove from heat.
  3. Transfer onions to bowl and whisk in ketchup, smoked paprika, and crisped bacon. Hold refrigerated for service.
