A sweet and tart braised red cabbage side dish.

  1. In a sauce pot over medium-low heat melt butter. Add onions and sauté until translucent.
  2. Add cabbage, apple, water, vinegar, sugar, salt, black pepper, and caraway seed. Stir to incorporate.
  3. Increase heat to medium and add apples. Cover with a lid and cook until tender, stirring occasionally. Hold hot for service or cool completely and reheat for service.
